Evaluation Rules and Guidelines

PRINTS

  1. Except for film processing, all work on the image must be that of the maker.
  2. Prints must be mounted and matted.  Mats may be proportional to the size of the prints but must not exceed 16 x 30. Framed prints are not allowed.
  3. Prints must be 5 x 7 or larger.
  4. Toning is permissible.
  5. The photographer’s name should not appear on the front of a submitted print.  If the print is so marked, the Print Director will mask the name before the print is evaluated.
  6. Prints will be evaluated on a light box, according to PSA rules.
  7. A completed Submission Form should be attached to the upper-left corner of the back of the mat. One additional Submission Form should be given to the Print Director. Submission Forms will be available at meetings or may be downloaded. To download and print the Submission Form - Click Here.
  8. You are strongly encouraged and it will be deeply appreciated if you will email your name and the name of each print you will be submitting no later than midnight the Saturday night immediately preceding the evaluation to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If email is not available to you, please call the print director with the information.
  9. You are strongly encouraged and the members will appreciate your submitting a digital copy (in jpeg) of each print being submitted by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than midnight the Saturday night immediately preceding the evaluation.  This is to allow a digital projection of each print to be displayed at evaluation so that all members may view the print while it is being critiqued by the evaluator.  The digital image should be submitted sized as close to, without exceeding 1920 pixels on the longest side.  When sending the digital copy, please include the word "print" in the subject line and name the image exactly as you will be naming the print. (If you are unable to submit a digital image of a print, the print will not be displayed digitally during evaluation.)
  10. Although we hope you will adhere to Items 8 and 9 above, if you are unable to do one or the other, or both, PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE PRINTS YOU WISH TO BE EVALUATED ARE DELIVERED TO THE EVALUATION MEETING NO LATER THAN 6:30 P.M.
